Jamie Oliver weight loss: TV chef’s diet for losing two stone

Jamie Oliver, 43, has shed a whopping two stone in recent years, after overhauling his diet and general lifestyle. The TV chef said in a previous interview that after not focusing on himself for a while he began to struggle sleeping, so took a closer look at his lifestyle to identify where he could make changes. He also went back to school and studied nutrition. His new-found knowledge led him to make changes to his diet and eat a lot healthier – a change which led to him actually consuming more.

But how did Jamie Oliver lose two stone?

The dad of five made small but significant changes in a bid to shed the pounds, after realising just how unhealthy his lifestyle was.

“I got toward my 40th birthday and I realised I hadn’t spent much time looking after myself,” he said on Loose Women in 2015.

“I went back to school and started studying nutrition, started travelling to parts of the world to where people live the longest lives and started looking at their lifestyles. That was the journey and it’s been amazing,” he added.

Jamie also spoke about how having such a lack of sleep affected his health.

He explained: “I met a sleep scientist who said that sleep has the most powerful affect on all of your body – how you metabolise food, your skin, your energy ad the rhythms of those. No less than six and no more than nine.”

Around the same time, Jamie spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, saying he lost weight quickly by actually eating more.

“I lost 12 kilos quite quickly and I didn’t do it through not eating,” the chef said.

“I ate a lot – more than I was used to. I pushed meat down, pushed veggie up, got more sleep and more movement.”

The Naked Chef also revealed that he exercised more regularly and made sure he got enough sleep, with sleep deprivation often leading to an increased appetite and overeating.

The celebrity chef insisted that eating well “doesn’t have to be complicated”, with the easiest weight-loss method being eating filling foods that are high in nutrients.

Talking about his weight loss, Jamie also revealed he lowered his alcohol intake by not drinking in the week.

Another food that Jamie ate more of to slim down was seaweed, revealing that he ate the Japanese delicacy to speed up his weight loss.

“I thought seaweed was hippy, globetrotting stuff but our ancestors ate seaweed,” he told Mail Online.

“It has got a load of iodine and is the most nutritious vegetable in the world.”

In an effort to lose even more weight Jamie also recently hired a personal trainer.

According to The Mirror, Jamie hired the help of celebrity trainer, Jamie Sawyer, who has previously trained Gerard Butler.

Jamie described the PT as, “super legit and a good friend”.
