At his heaviest, Ian Joy tipped the scales at 25st 4lbs before embarking on his weight loss journey.

The 43-year-old mobile crane driver suffered with depression due to feeling “stuck in a huge body” for years.

Having been a Coldstream Queen’s Guard in his younger years, Ian knew about discipline but always struggled to lose weight.

After deciding he had enough in July this year, Ian, from Hartlepool, Teeside, was determined to turn his life around.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, the former military man revealed how he dropped 6st in a matter of months.

“I just wanted to feel fit again but life was a real struggle”

He said: “Before I started my weight loss, I struggled with day-to-day tasks and even found it tough at work.

“When I came home, I was exhausted and turned to the sofa. I suffered sinusitis monthly, headaches and felt chesty most of the time.

“My reasons to diet were because I felt trapped in a massive body, from being a fit lad in my teens to a Coldstream Queen’s Guard over the years.

“I just wanted to feel fit again but life was a real struggle.”

Ian tried a number of slimming pills and plans, but nothing ever worked.

He was forced to shop online at Jacamo – a clothing brand for large men – and wore 7XL clothes.

Ian considered gastric surgery, but could never afford to go under the knife.

Then on July 20, the dad-of-one turned to Shake That Weight, a low calorie meal replacement supplement.

“To me the diet was a life-changing decision. All I’ve had to do is cut all the cakes, pasties, chocolate and fast food,” he added.

“Now I weigh in a lot lighter and I’m starting to feel so much healthier that it feels amazing.”

Within 18 weeks of following the simple diet plan, Ian has lost an incredible 6st.

He has successfully become a member of the STW support group on Facebook, where he helps others reach their goals.

As well as his weight-loss transformation, Ian has noticed the tendinitis in his feet completely disappeared.

He told Daily Star Online: “The best thing about my transformation is I’m so active now.

“I’m back into my sports, my health is different and I’m feeling so much better.

“My BMI has dropped right down and I can help others with their weight loss journeys being on the support group.”

Ian – who now weighs 19st 4lbs – has also been able to cycle up to 30 miles a day.

“The exercise I can do now is going out in my mountain bike, I’ve not been on one for 20 years,” he continued.

“I started doing 17 mile rides, now I have a lot more energy and I can walk my dog a lot further without my tendinitis hurting me.”
